This chapter introduces a new way of thinking about knowledge and how it reorients the theory of knowledge. It first introduces the classic philosophical example of a broken clock to illustrate the potential connections between belief and knowledge. From here, the chapter begins with the assumption that having information is a matter of having true beliefs. It then lays out the definitions for knowledge and information and how they relate with the concepts of truth and belief by using another illustrative example: this time of a red ball found in a hallway. Finally, the chapter concludes that whether a true belief counts as knowledge hinges on the importance of the information one has and lacks.
